some quite time

Its Wednesday night, and its quite. Mike is working an overtime job, and Alex is in bed. Finally some time for me. --Its not a lot of time, because I have to set Alex's pump up and get some well needed rest. But I did want to write a quick recap of my week so far. I am hoping for a quick ending to this week. I'm tired and sick and just want this week to be over with already.

Thursday was Alex's GI appointment. I'm so excited; he is up to 22.11 lbs. We are going to try to wean him from his tube in June. I hope before we head out to San Diego. I asked Connie, to check out his ears, because he has been pulling on them for awhile now. She couldn't get a good look because there was a lot of wax, but the one was a little bit red - so she said to take him to the peds. I did and sure enough he had a double ear infection. Poor baby boy.

Last Friday was Mike's 30th birthday. We had our friends over for a cook out, fed the ducks, and watched the kids run around; during the movie. Saturday - Andrea watched Alex for us, while we went out with our friends to Celebrate Mike's birthday. What amazing friends we have - I am so thankful for Andrea - She is always there for me, whether it’s for strength or to set me straight. Sunday Mike went golfing - and I just did stuff around the house.

Monday and Tuesday Alex had a slight bit of a cold on top of the ear infections. So he isn't feeling all that well. Tuesday, my throat started to hurt and I was up every hour that night. What a bummer. Today my throat is fine, I have a slight fever and a nasty cough and runny nose. What a crappy last few days. I hope Mike doesn't get any of this crud. He is working a graduation tonight, won't be home till late. Tomorrow is another graduation and Friday he is working an overnight construction job. It’s great that were getting all this extra money for our vacation. But I will miss him being home and helping out.

Oh on an exciting note, Alex has been eating half way decent when given some food. Not as well as he should be...but better. Tuesday he almost ate a whole slice of pizza from Pappa Johns. Here is a picture of him after he ate it all. I think he is full.
Off to set up Alex on his pump, and then to bed.

My first Post

I have been thinking about doing a blog for quite some time now. Since today is my first day of being out of school for the next few months, I thought it would be a great time to start! So here I am trying to think of stuff to say.

I guess I'll start by talking about Alex. My husband and I are very blessed to have such an amazing son. I hope our next child is as wonderful as he is. Here are a few recent pictures of him. One with his feeding tube, and one without.

Mike and I just got some good/bad news about Alex. He has qualified for Long Term Care through the State. I know your thinking how is that bad news? But before when I thougtht he wouldn't qualify I was happy because I told myself that he didn't need it. Now that he qualifies, I feel like he is worse off then what I thought. On the other hand, this opens the door for us in so many ways. He'll get a lot more therapy and services to help him acompish our goals. One of my main goals is to have him not qualifiy for services in a year. Its a lot of work, but I think we can do it.

I'm constantly reasearching feeding thearpy programs. I'm not sure if our insurance will cover it or not. If not it could cost us up to $30,000. To get him the help he needs. I don't know where we would get that money from. I'm starting to save up, maybe one day We'll have enough money saved up.
